This painting started as a smaller piece (the bottom left corner) and I decided to discover what was happening outside of the frame by expanding it to a larger canvas. It evolved into a much more open and less claustrophobic scene that has more of an almost organic environment. It was this organic quality, with sweet corn like structures that made me imagine a farm like environment where machines are grown and self propagate. I’d been fixating upon the idea of making a merging of mechanical and natural forms and so this appealed greatly to me as a concept.
